A Book for all Ages for National Book Week
This week marks National Book Week, sponsored by the National Book Foundation to promote the reading of books. In support of this effort, American Book Publishing releases I Am The Codyman. Unique in its narrator, content, and range of readership, it is unlike any other novel.
Cody is a West Highland Terrier—a Westie—whose owner lived in a hotel. When she dies, she leaves a large sum of money to the hotel, on the condition that Cody continues to live there. The hotel is required to search for appropriate guests to share his suite each night, all on Cody's tab. Cody tells his own story of the first year of life on his own—a year when he deepens current friendships with hotel employees and forges new relationships with hotel guests and neighbors. Through it all, Cody's incredible sensitivity and intelligence allows him to solve problems, bring people together, and make the world a better place. After only one year, he has hundreds of people who credit him with their own happiness.

Deborah Kennedy, Associate Professor of English, Saint Marys University, states, "What a delightful book. A lighthearted, poignant, and often funny book that will appeal to readers of all ages. A memorable and original story. It showed how much people can benefit from a little help in the right direction, whether it comes from people or from dogs. We need more than food, water, and shelter in our lives. We also need companionship, love, and imagination, as this story so lovingly tells us."
"Once I picked up this book, I got hooked!
"This author, Linda Stubbs, can write.
"Her dialogue is flawless. She creates a "voice" for the dog that is uniquely his and she captures the different personalities that move around him. She keeps the emotional suspense up throughout the book: we have romantic liaisons and we can't help wondering what will happen to those we meet.
"It's a feel-good story, no doubt about it," recommends Cathy Goodwin, PhD, writer, speaker and career coach in the Silver City Sun-News, New Mexico.
