GameWorks Hosts Spider-Man 2 Party and will distribute free comic books in partnership with Free Comic Book Day.

GLENDALE, CA June 28, 2004 -- GameWorks has partnered with Diamond Comic Distributors nationally to promote "Free Comic Book Day", which will take place Saturday, July 3. Comic book stores across the country will give away comic books on Saturday, July 3rd.

To kick off Free Comic Book Day, all GameWorks locations will host a Spider-Man 2 party Friday, July 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All guests visiting GameWorks will have the chance to get first dibs on free, newly released comic books, such as Spider-Man #1 and Teen Titans Go #1, and take part in Spider-Man themed festivities.

"I think this will be a cool partnership. People who are into video games can cross over into anime, comic books and vice versa." Tate Ottati, owner of Tate's Comics in Lauderhill, Fla., said. "It's the start of a beautiful friendship between two different, yet very similar worlds."

As part of the Spider-Man 2 launch, participating comic book stores, movie theatres and select retailers in each GameWorks market will distribute GameWorks "Secret Identity Cards," which offer guests free game cards with undisclosed values at their nearest GameWorks location. "Secret Identity Card" holders will have until July 31 to visit GameWorks and uncover the value of their cards, which may be worth up to $150 in game play. Every card is a winner. Guests may contact their local GameWorks location for "Secret Identity Card" distribution points.

GameWorks Studio locations will participate in the "Secret Identity Card" challenge but will not be distributing free comic books.
