Supporting National Book Month The Literacy Empowerment Foundation Offers EVERY Classroom In America Sets of FREE Books!

April 18, 2004--To celebrate National Book Month, beginning May 1st, the Literacy Empowerment Foundation (LEF) is offering every classroom in America free sets of 25 books. The foundation helps reduce illiteracy in children, running a variety of projects including "Books from Bruce" which allows educators to claim free sets of books by logging on to www.literacyempowerment.org.

The set of books schools will receive consists of at least three different titles which are aimed at a variety of reading levels. The titles in the set change every month each school year (as multiple orders are encouraged) meaning every child can potentially receive twelve different titles. LEF was established in January 2000 and to date has provided over two million free or very low cost books to over 14,000 schools across America. Since September 2002 over 17,000 shipments (or 425,000 individual books) of "Books from Bruce" have been delivered.

LEF Founder and Author of the books, Bruce Larkin, says; "National Book Month completely summarizes the purpose of the ‘Books from Bruce' program. ‘Books from Bruce' aims to raise awareness of the illiteracy plague affecting children helping educators battle the large deficit of books in home environments. Illiteracy can and should be fought from an early age."

The book sets in this program are free however to celebrate National Book Month LEF is only requesting educators pay a shipping and handling fee.
