Instant Books Pioneers New Uses for Electronic Books

Since it's founding in 2000, children's electronic publisher Instant Books has sought ways to bridge the gap between printed books and electronic books. They started by offering electronic books that the customer could print on demand. They also offered instruction on their web-site, www.InstantKidsBooks.com , so that customers could bind the books they had printed off with their children. It was soon discovered that when children created a book cover and bound a book, they were more interested in reading that book. Research conducted for the Hobby Industry Association proved this out by showing that hands on craft activities serve as learning anchors, helping children move from the concrete to the abstract.
In 2002, Instant Books put what they knew about the link between reading and crafts into a resource guide for parents, teachers, and children. The Great Big Book of Crafty Cover Ideas helps adults and children get their creative juices flowing with over 30 cover ideas. This year a second edition with over 25 new cover ideas will be published to inspire more parents and teachers to get children involved in creating their own covers and binding a quality book. To make more people aware of the link between creating covers and reading enjoyment, Instant Books recently launched www.craftycovers.com . This site explains in further detail the educational benefits of creating a cover and binding a quality children's book.
Anyone worldwide wishing to explore the educational benefits of printable electronic books and crafty covers can download a free copy of Franklin The Ugly Little Dog by following the link on the homepage of www.InstantKidsBooks.com . They will also find instructions for three different book binding methods on the same web-site. Free instructions for creating a crafty cover are available at www.craftycovers.com .
